The Fresh Start Workshop will be on Tuesday, August 8th, from 12 PM to 6 PM at the United Way of McLean County, located at 201 E Grove St. People are encouraged to stop by anytime during the workshop and learn more about the expungement or sealing process. We will mainly be helping folks receive a copy of their criminal record, which is needed to start the process. However, there will also be volunteer attorneys on site for those who already have a copy of their criminal record and are ready to move on to the next step.
Although the workshop is free, one must get fingerprinted at Bloomington Police Department to acquire a copy of their criminal record. There is a fee of $20 for this service. If possible, we suggest that participants bring $20 in cash so they can complete this step right away.
We are reaching out to you as we believe that the community members you work with could benefit from this event.
I have attached to this email a copy of our poster, which will be circulated around the community. We would appreciate it if you shared the poster with your contacts.
We have created a Facebook event for the workshop; we ask that you invite people you think might be interested in clearing or sealing their criminal record. The link is: http://bit.ly/2uJus6g
We have also made up a sign up form for folks who are planning on attending the workshop. It is not required that they sign up, but will help us have an idea on the number planning to attend. Here is the link to sign up: http://bit.ly/2uw4uVV
Lastly, if anyone is interested in volunteering for this event, whether it be helping canvassing or working the actual workshop day, you can click on this link to sign-up : http://bit.ly/2vaYv79
